Dialogue with Angus
There seemed to be a hopeless gulf between us. My words lobbed back dropping meaninglessly around me.
“I can’t do this,” I declare in frustration,
“You’re too good at this. I’m no match for you.”
“We’re doing it,” he says triumphantly.
“I’m proud of us.”
“You don’t hear me, you don’t listen,” I hold back tears.
“I do listen,” he hugs me.
His grown-up arms encircle me.
Looking into his eyes,
I see into him,
as clearly as when he was a child,
Back when we were each other’s first choice.
